In short
Automate information retrieval and actions within your professional applications using ChatGPT connectors. Learn to integrate your work tools, such as cloud drives or email services, while maintaining full control over read/write permissions, action confirmations, and active connections. This enhances productivity without compromising on data governance.
Why this training?
Integrating ChatGPT with business applications via connectors unlocks automation potential but raises significant security and data control questions. Without rigorous management, these connections can create vulnerabilities. This training tackles this challenge by demonstrating how to use these features securely. It focuses on the platform's built-in control mechanisms, enabling teams to leverage automation while maintaining strict governance over company information access. The goal is to transform ChatGPT into an integrated, reliable, and controlled assistant, ensuring that efficiency gains do not come at the cost of security. Participants will configure connections between ChatGPT and simulated work applications, such as an email client or a cloud storage service. They will practice setting granular permissions (read-only, write), crafting prompts to perform searches or actions, validating confirmations, and finally, properly documenting and disconnecting the integrations. These tasks are performed in a controlled environment using fictional data. Deliverables: An evaluation grid to decide which applications to connect.; A documentation template for tracking integrations and permissions.; A security checklist for managing access.. This course focuses solely on the native connector features ('apps') within ChatGPT. It does not cover custom API development, unverified third-party plugins, or integrations via external automation platforms. Feature availability depends on the subscription plan and administrator settings. The workshop is delivered in person as a private session for up to 12 participants, in one language chosen from French, Dutch and English. All exercise data is fictional or anonymised, and every result produced with AI is reviewed and validated by a responsible person. The aim is a bounded result the team can reuse, not a promise of deployment.
Objectives of this training
- Activate ChatGPT connectors for specific work applications.
- Define read and write permissions for each connection.
- Use ChatGPT to search and act within connected applications.
- Review confirmation logs and document active integrations.
- Securely disconnect an application and revoke its access.
Who is it for and what are the prerequisites?
Roles and tasks concerned
- Professionals looking to automate repetitive tasks between ChatGPT and their applications.
- Team managers who want to understand the security and governance implications of integrations.
- IT or compliance staff evaluating the use cases and risks of connectors.
Prior skills
- This course requires completion of 'AI Fundamentals' and 'AI Prompting' training or equivalent experience. Participants must have a paid ChatGPT subscription that offers the features used in the exercises, their organization's authorization to use these third-party tools, and the necessary accounts and access rights. Practical exercises use fictional or anonymized data.
- A paid subscription to an AI solution offering the features used, the organisation’s authorisation for third-party tools, and the actual accounts and access rights.
What you will work on
Principles of Application Connectors
Understand how ChatGPT 'apps' work and interact with third-party APIs. Identify relevant use cases for task automation.
Configuration and Permission Management
Navigate settings to enable an application connector (availability depends on plan and administrator). Distinguish between and assign read ('search') and write ('act') permissions.
Secure Interaction with Connected Apps
Formulate prompts to query or act within a connected application. Interpret confirmation requests before an action is executed.
Governance and Access Maintenance
Document which app is used for which task. Audit and revoke access for a connected application.
What you take away
- An evaluation grid to decide which applications to connect.
- A documentation template for tracking integrations and permissions.
- A security checklist for managing access.
Method and assessment
- Live demonstrations within the ChatGPT interface.
- Individual hands-on exercises on predefined use cases.
- Group discussions on security and governance policies.
Assessment of learning through the successful completion of practical exercises and active participation in discussions on governance.
