How can AI help you turn a product need into a testable specification?

1960 € per session, excl. VAT

In short

Product owners, business leads and consultants learn to turn interview notes into a testable specification with an AI assistant: separate needs from assumptions, define non-goals, write scenarios and acceptance criteria, and handle exceptions and accessibility. Deliverables: a specification document, a prioritised backlog and an acceptance test grid shared with the business.

Why this training?

The problem
Digital projects often fail before development due to vague requirements and missing success criteria.
What it costs today
Solutions are imposed too early, error cases are overlooked, leading to costly rework and fragile decisions.
Why this skill
This skill is necessary now to structure business needs and establish clear, verifiable specifications before any development.
What you gain
The participant and the company gain more reliable specifications, improved quality of deliverables, and increased autonomy in drafting specifications.

Objectives of this training

  • Structure interview notes into distinct needs and assumptions.
  • Precisely define a project's scope, including non-objectives.
  • Write clear user scenarios and verifiable acceptance criteria.
  • Identify and integrate exception cases and accessibility requirements.
  • Prioritize a requirements backlog and prepare a functional test grid.

Who is it for and what are the prerequisites?

Roles and tasks concerned

  • Product owners
  • Business project managers
  • Consultants and functional analysts

Prior skills

  • AI Fundamentals and AI Prompting completed, or equivalent experience (a learning prerequisite, not a registration condition).
  • Basic practice of an AI assistant
  • Experience with a digital project
  • A paid subscription to an AI solution offering the features used, the organisation’s authorisation for third-party tools, and the actual accounts and access rights.

To prepare before the session

  • Ensure you have access to a capable AI assistant with sufficient access for the tasks.
  • Familiarize yourself with the chosen AI assistant's interface and basic functions.
  • Prepare a fictional business case to use for the exercises.

What you will work on

  1. Read Interviews

The participant can extract and distinguish expressed needs from assumptions based on source notes.

  2. Frame the Scope

The participant can define the precise framework of a project by stating objectives, non-objectives, and constraints.

  3. Scenarios and Criteria

The participant can write user journeys as scenarios with verifiable acceptance criteria.

  4. Exceptions and Accessibility

The participant can identify and integrate edge cases, errors, and accessibility requirements into the specifications.

  5. Prioritize and Prepare for Testing

The participant can prioritize requirements and build a test grid based on defined criteria.

What you take away

  • Structured and detailed statement of work for a project
  • Prioritized requirements backlog
  • Functional test grid
  • List of open questions for business stakeholders

Method and assessment

  • Workshop on fictional interview notes
  • Traceability of every requirement to its source
  • Critical peer review

The specification is assessed on traceability of each requirement to an expressed need, presence of non-goals, testability of acceptance criteria, coverage of exceptions and accessibility, and consistency of the prioritisation.

Frequently asked questions

What concrete result does this course deliver?

The team produces a testable specification, a prioritised backlog and an acceptance grid shared with the business. Deliverables: structured specification document, prioritised backlog, acceptance test grid.

Who is this course for and what are the prerequisites?

It is designed for: product owners, business leads sponsoring a project, consultants and functional analysts. Basic experience with an AI assistant and of a digital project, even on the business side. The exercise interview notes are fictional.

What data and access need to be arranged?

The exercise notes are fictional. Real project documents are only used if authorised for use with the chosen AI assistant. Required tools and licences are checked before the session; no subscription is included in the price.

What practical exercise is completed?

Starting from fictional interview notes, participants separate expressed needs from assumptions, define non-goals, write scenarios and acceptance criteria, handle exceptions and accessibility, then run a review and prepare acceptance testing.

What are the limits and who validates the results?

The workshop does not build an application. The chosen AI assistant's suggestions are checked against the source notes; a generated persona is never treated as real user research and priorities are validated by the business lead.

Can the course be adapted to our line of work?

During scoping, the fictional interview notes are written around a similar project type: internal tool, customer portal, business application or change to existing software.

How is the session organised and what does it cost?

Full day, private in-person session for up to 12 participants. The fee is €1,960 excluding VAT per session. Date and location are agreed during scoping; each session runs in a single language: French, Dutch or English.
