In short

This 7-hour day, excluding breaks, prepares participants for a speaking engagement involving sensitive objections. Participants use generative AI to build a challenging scenario, practise handling follow-up questions, verify their answers and compile an operational dossier whose quality is measured before and after revision.

Why this training?

A difficult question often combines disagreement, emotion and a questionable assumption. Preparing key messages alone leaves the spokesperson ill-equipped to deal with interruptions, accusations or demands for an immediate commitment. Generative AI allows variation in interlocutors and follow-up questions, but may invent facts or caricature an audience. The method sets boundaries for the scenarios and assigns factual validation and the assessment of answers to the participants. Running case study: The fictitious association Orme Passage brings together two reception services. Its manager must explain a temporary reduction in opening hours to service users. The dossier sets out the constraints, alternative solutions and decisions still open; no additional promises may be made. Transfer to the workplace: Before your next sensitive meeting, revisit the preparation dossier, have answers involving commitments checked by the relevant manager and organise a rehearsal with a colleague posing challenging questions. After the meeting, add unexpected questions to the question bank.

Objectives of this training

  • Classify questions by their intent and sensitivity
  • Configure a simulated interlocutor using a factual dossier
  • Formulate a direct answer without unauthorised commitments
  • Handle a hostile follow-up question without evading the substance
  • Compare two simulations using a common assessment grid

Who is it for and what are the prerequisites?

Roles and tasks concerned

  • Communications managers and spokespeople preparing for challenging exchanges
  • Managers and project leads announcing sensitive decisions

Prior skills

  • Know how to use a generative AI assistant and specify your instructions
  • Understand what is at stake in your speaking engagements and the scope of your authority to make commitments

What you will work on

  1. Mapping sensitive areas

Objective: Identify what makes an objection difficult. Legitimate request, accusation, false dilemma, multi-part question; limits of the spokesperson’s mandate.

  2. Building the challenger

Objective: Obtain demanding questions without caricature. Role, concerns, intensity, accessible facts, prohibition on inventing information; one question per turn.

  3. Preparing defensible answers

Objective: Answer clearly without overpromising. Direct answer, evidence, acknowledgement of the impact, boundary and next step; correction of an assumption.

  4. Facing follow-up questions

Objective: Maintain a consistent answer under pressure. Persistence, interruption, accusations of evasion; acknowledging emotion without feigned agreement.

  5. Measuring and correcting

Objective: Distinguish apparent ease from genuine quality. Scoring from 0 to 2: accuracy, substantive response, clarity, demeanour, adherence to the mandate.

  6. Validating a second rehearsal

Objective: Test the corrections and finalise the dossier. New questions, consistency of messages, procedure for deferred responses and internal validation.

What you take away

  • Matrix of twelve classified sensitive questions
  • Reusable simulation prompt with rules for follow-up questions
  • Bank of verified answers and limits on commitments
  • Comparative assessment grid for the simulations and correction plan

Method and assessment

  • Short teaching inputs followed by immediate practice using the running case study.
  • Individual work followed by work in pairs, with cross-review of the outputs.
  • Guided group review: what works, what needs correcting and what remains a human decision.
  • Preparation: Choose a fictitious or anonymised situation and three recurring objections Check access to a tool authorised by the organisation; exclude all confidential data from the exercises

Observable criteria: The twelve questions cover at least four distinct intentions; Every factual statement is linked to the dossier provided; Answers distinguish between decisions made, uncertainties and authorised commitments; Each answer addresses the substance before any transition; Two rounds are assessed on the same scale, with documented corrections.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need to use voice with the AI?

No. The AI can provide the questions in writing; participants then role-play the exchange orally.

How can you avoid an unnecessarily aggressive simulation?

Set an intensity level, prohibit personal attacks and refocus follow-up questions on the contested decisions.

Can the AI validate our answers?

It offers a critique; facts and commitments continue to be checked by participants and then by authorised managers.

What should you do if you do not have the answer?

Acknowledge the limitation, specify what needs checking and propose a follow-up consistent with your mandate.
